Many clients hire marketing professionals, asking initially for "out of the box" thinking and an  original campaign, then some of them second-guess, asking instead for a "tamed' version that will hopefully appeal to the widest audience.  Instead what they get is a watered down idea that appeals to no audience, because the impact has been stripped from the concept.  For me it usually goes this way:

I recently took an excellent public speaking course offered by Communispond here in New York City.  I mention it because in addition to providing me with the opportunity to see exactly how fat I am on camera, the people at Communispond tought me more in the two day program than I learned in an entire semester in college about public speaking and even about non public speaking, the kind of speaking you do when you pitch a project to a group of executives, or even to one single person.

I learned that it's not what you say that get's noticed as much as how you say it.  Seems logical, we've all heard that before.  But try to put that into practice, pay special attention to yourself when speaking and really see what others observe.

I'm often asked about domain naming - let me make a few things more clear for all of you who are thinking of jumping on the web.

First repeat after me: "Search engine optimization should never - ever - negatively effect site usability."

When it comes to choosing a Domain name and SEO, forget about the SEO.  Focus on your audience. Your domain name does not have to be your company name.  There... I said it.

I'm asked often enough about word count and how the search engines feel about over long or over short pages. Q: "I heard that the home page should be at least contain 400 words so that it is more attractive to the search engines. is this true?" or "should I try to keep the number of pages in my site to a minimum or is it Okay to have a lot of pages?"

There is a new Spamming attack method on the rise : Spammers are sneaking in as an Email Newsletters...
The Associated Press reports that spammers are disguising their messages as e-mail newsletters. Those ads to enlarge body parts that some of us don't even own have been sneaking under your spam radar in the form of e-newsletters, tricking us to open the emails to read about our favourite baseball team or recipes for 20 minute dinners.
